The whole household prepare
For the darkness and despair
How long will it be this time?
An hour, or two or nine?
Mom and Dad sit on the porch
With a cup of coffee and a torch
Children in their bed-time gowns
Play hide and seek around the grounds
Little boys making a noise
To scare the girls and get their toys
The neighbors sit and start to sing
A guitar playing without a string
But no matter the lights are out
We will never fuss about
Because we know it always is
Like a record playing on repeat.
