The Bible talks about certain valleys, usually in a negative sense. Battles are fought in the valley. Lot’s home in the valley was destroyed. Psalm 23 talks about the valley of death. But in the Song of Songs, the King says, ‘I am the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys; as the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.’ There is beauty to behold beyond the thorns. There is sweet fragrance in the valley. As the King brings about that fragrance and beauty to the daughters, let us joyfully receive.
Living in the valley, we are in ideal conditions to live a good life. However there is always the danger of attack. But for those who accept the King, His fragrance will be our joy, protection and comfort.
Happy is the one who searches out truth. Fearless is the one who is enveloped in the fragrance of the King.
“Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and fearsome as an army with banners?’” (Song of Songs 6:10)
